I guess I can leave only a very meaningless comment. I've been there so many times over all the years with all these animals. It's huge. It doesn't go away. You eventually accept, after time, another hole in your mind, your life. You rejoice in what you have known. They lead you through life. I wonder if it is not dearest with them because they are so sweet.
Merry said that someone . . .who was it . . .said that when we get to our heaven, there will be someone saying, ah, now, good, I will lead you to the animals you have raised. Or known, I think. That's Heaven. That is what must be meant by peace. All of us, just running along happy. Yes, we have known it right here.

That was Mary Tyler Moore when asked what she wanted to hear St. Peter say to her at the Pearly Gates. She replied, “Let me take you to the animals you have cared for.”
Like Eowyn and Frodo and other animal lovers, I, too, have given up pieces of my heart.
My sympathy to Mr. Frodo’s good neighbors.
