The ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION developed a reader submitted column called "The Vent." The purpose being that readers could submit something, be it humorous, angry, moronic, or whatever, anonymously. It is probably the one aspect of the paper on which all agree, it is regularly funny, entertaining, sometimes heartfelt, and always creative. Following is a submission from todays' paper: "I'm a Vietnam veteran and I'm glad President Carter pardoned those who managed to avoid the draft. About 57,000 of my peers were killed for nothing, a sentiment backed up by former Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara himself. Vietnam did not attack the U.S. Neither did Iraq. Freedom was the convenient excuse back then, just as it is today."
